Dormouse Ecology and Conservation Course Postponed.

Unfortunately, given the current situation with COVID-19, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Dormouse Ecology and Conservation course, which was due to take place on 20-21st April.

We will hope to run this course again later in the year, and will keep you updated when we have a new date.

For now, we will be offering refunds to those who have already booked on- Please get in touch with Alison-

Crab Wood Dormouse Survey

Some of our members carried out a dormouse survey at Crab Wood, near Winchester over the weekend. Unfortunately no dormice were found this time, but they did find some interesting nests with stripped and woven material, and green leaves. Promising for future surveys!

Zionshill Copse Community Woodfair, Chandlers Ford. Saturday 7th September 2019, 10:00-17:00

Members Trip to Briddlesford Copse, I.O.W. Thursday 18th July 2019

This trip is for Hampshire Dormouse Group members, to the PTES reserve Briddlesford Copse, on the Isle of Wight. This is a great opportunity to get some experience in checking dormouse boxes and potentially handling dormice if they are present on the day.

Cost (including transport from Cowes): £30.

Fleet Pond Wildlife Day, Sunday 2nd June 2019. 10:00- 16:00

We’ll be at the Wildlife Day at Fleet Pond with our HDG stand. Please come and say hello, ask questions about training and events, learn about dormice and make a pom pom dormouse or dormouse mask to take home! Hope to see you there!


This years AGM was a great success with 20 members in attendance. The main theme of the evening was to sum up the past years successes and to talk about where we go now. Concluding with the voting in of this years committee. The AGM was followed by a talk from Pat Morris on What Makes Dormice Rare? which was attended by a further 13 people, making it a record attendance! Minutes from the meeting will be published shortly along with a list of dates for up and coming events. So keep an eye out, we would love to see you at one of our next events.


New Forest and Hampshire County Show – 26-28th July 2016

Dear Members
The next event that the HDG information stand will be appearing at will be the New Forest Show 2016. If anyone would like to help on the stand talking to the general public about dormouse and our work, plus all the fun of making pompom dormouse your time would be greatly appreciated. To encourage members and assist with possible costs/expenses the committee is willing to compensate members up to £25 per day for their commitment. Plus, free entry (full adult price £20) to the show ground.
