The next dormouse check at Briddlesford Reserve on the Isle of Wight is on the 21st/22nd May.
It is a great opportunity to gain dormouse survey experience and an enjoyable weekend in the woodland.
Would any unlicensed members of the HDG like to come?
There would be costs for food, accommodation and travel but the weekend itself is free.
This is a rare opportunity as spaces are usually booked up well in advance, so please let us know if you are interested in coming along via the contact us page.

Please email Alex if you would like to book a place (full details and timings will be sent out nearer the date.) It would be great to see you all there!

The Europeans are very interested in dormouse conservation in general and volunteer engagement. Livia Haag, from Switzerland, Birgit Rotter, from Austria and Nora Wuttke from Germany were very interested in a trip to the UK to see how we do things here.
They are visiting Hampshire from 17th – 20th August and staying near Basingstoke. On Wednesday 19th August we’ll be looking at some sites that are due to be developed and looking at survey and mitigation. In the evening there will be a social evening for members of HDG at The Dove Inn in Micheldever to meet Livia, Brigit and Nora and to find out the current state of dormice and their conservation in their respective countries. This is a HDG event – please try and attend.
